The Doorkeeper Knight

Today I read a story about a knight who was ordered by his commander to be a simple doorkeeper, to watch the castle gate while all the other knights went out to the battle.

While he was at the door, he was faced with various temptations to leave his post and go to the battle. But he refused those temptations and stayed his ground.

In the end, his commander recognized that his was the hardest battle to fight, and he succeeded.

Reading this story challenged me to stand my ground–to not give in to temptation when it draws me.

About Me

I’m a high school student who seeks understanding. There are so many things in life that I would like to understand, but it’s hard.

  • How can I live a good life?
  • How can I make people like me?
  • How can I draw close to God?
  • What should I do after high school?

I call myself “Surrendered,” but to be surrendered is more of a process than a destination. I’m not perfect by any means, and I struggle a lot. Nevertheless, I place my hope in God, and trust that he will give me the answers.
