The Doorkeeper Knight

Today I read a story about a knight who was ordered by his commander to be a simple doorkeeper, to watch the castle gate while all the other knights went out to the battle.

While he was at the door, he was faced with various temptations to leave his post and go to the battle. But he refused those temptations and stayed his ground.

In the end, his commander recognized that his was the hardest battle to fight, and he succeeded.

Reading this story challenged me to stand my ground–to not give in to temptation when it draws me.

About Me

I'm a high school student, a teen, who seeks to follow God with everything he has. I've got so many questions and so often I feel like I'm hitting a wall in my beliefs, my actions, and my creativity. And that's OK.

Being surrendered is more of a process than a destination. I'm not perfect by any means, and I struggle a lot. But the daily act of "presenting my body as a living sacrifice," fully surrendered to the will of my King, is what will get me through.
