Day 7: Contentment

What does it mean to be content?
It means to have enough.
It means not striving to get more
Or coveting other’s stuff.

To be content means giving thanks
For my daily bread.
To praise the Lord for all He gives
Fromm nail scarred hands that bled.

To be content means…I’m at peace
In every circumstance
Knowing God is in control
That I don’t live by chance.

Contentment is a state of mind
That saints of old displayed
Instead of griping over lemons
They made sweet lemonade!

So cultivate the mind of Christ
Who taught us every grace
May God see Joy and Gratitude
In every heart and face.
~ Bill Gassett

This poem struck me today, so I thought I’d share it on here. All I know about its author is that his name is Bill Gassett and he wrote it on November 16, 2008. Other than that, I know nothing. However, I don’t believe he would mind me republishing it here under his name

About Me

I’m a high school student who seeks understanding. There are so many things in life that I would like to understand, but it’s hard.

  • How can I live a good life?
  • How can I make people like me?
  • How can I draw close to God?
  • What should I do after high school?

I call myself “Surrendered,” but to be surrendered is more of a process than a destination. I’m not perfect by any means, and I struggle a lot. Nevertheless, I place my hope in God, and trust that he will give me the answers.
